Hello friends of 106 Green and Sardine,
We know it is an imposition to be asked, as an artist, to give your work away for free, but we think this is a good cause. Fellow artist and friend, Bryan Osburn, was attacked while walking home from his studio on Friday night at 11:30 in Greenpoint. He has undergone extensive surgery to put his jaw back together. And he will need financial help as his body and mind heal.
Please consider donating a small drawing, painting, print, doodle, etc. to our fundraiser. All the proceeds will be going to Bryan. It's empowering to be able to come together as a community of artists when someone we know needs help.
Please consider donating a small work or buying a raffle ticket to help Bryan.
There are 2 ways to support Bryan:
Donate an artwork. This can be anything you don't mind parting with, smaller is great. We are looking for work under 12 x 12"(ish). They can be dropped off to either Matt Fisher (email@example.com) or Holly Coulis (firstname.lastname@example.org) prior to the event, or brought to 106 Green on Saturday, August 8 any time from 1pm to 5pm.
Buy a raffle ticket for $100. All names will be put into a box and drawn at random.
When your name is called, you will be able to choose any art work available and take it home with you!
Please take note that our fundraiser will take place at:
104 Green Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222
Sunday, August 9 from 4 to 7pm
The raffle will begin at 5pm.
And please be extra alert when you are out.
Take care of yourselves,
Facebook post from Bryan's family:
Bryan Osburn was attacked while walking down the street in Greenpoint on Friday night. He was coming home from his art studio around 11:30pm. He woke up in the trauma unit at Bellevue Hospital. Whoever these monsters were walked away with only his cell phone. He has no recollection of the attack. He woke up in the hospital. My parents and Beth didn't even find out that this had happened until last night. They basically shattered his lower jaw and cracked his chin. Teeth are a mess and he's scraped up from where he hit the ground. Thankfully he has no other head trauma. Tomorrow he will undergo surgery (approx a 5 hour surgery where plates and pins will be used to piece his jaw back together) to reconstruct his jaw. Thankfully he is still alive. We are still waiting to see the police report, but we are all incredibly grateful to whoever it was who called the police. We have no idea how long he was passed out on the street. We have no idea yet, it anyone saw this happen.
I ask that you please send him some good healing vibes tomorrow as he goes into surgery. As of now, he will be in the hospital until Friday. He won't really be able to talk, but let me know if you want to visit him. I'll let you know how he's doing and if he's open to visitors.
Please please please be aware of who is around you while walking down the street. This was a crazy, scary, disgusting, and unnecessary act of violence.
Below is list of artists donating. Please note this is not the final list. The list will grow and will be updated daily.
